Get Swathwise

The whole planner: estimates, flight routes with the terrain built in, flight plans and the rest - on your own computer, on your iPhone or iPad, or in your browser with nothing to install. It is free. There is no account to make, no key to type and no charge.

Download for Windows Download for Mac Get it for iPhone and iPad Open in your browser

Windows: about 90 MB, Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The button always gives you the current version.

Nothing to install: the same planner, in this browser, on any computer. It draws on United States government maps, as the programs do.

Mac: about 190 MB, Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 12 or later. It is signed and checked by Apple, so it opens without a warning.

iPhone and iPad: free on the App Store, iOS 15 or later.

What to expect

  1. On Windows, it will warn you about it. The installer is not yet signed with a publisher's certificate, so Windows may say it does not recognise the app. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Only ever do that for a file you downloaded from this page.
  2. On a Mac, it just opens. The Mac version is signed and checked by Apple. Open the disk image, drag Swathwise into Applications, and open it from there.
  3. On an iPhone or iPad, it comes from the App Store. Install it from the App Store like any other app. It opens straight to the map.
  4. You will be asked to accept the terms. The installer shows the Terms of use, and the program asks once more the first time it runs. Read them: Swathwise gives planning estimates and draft routes, and the pilot is responsible for every flight.
  5. It installs for you alone, and keeps itself current. No administrator rights are needed. The program checks for a newer version now and then and offers it to you.

Worth knowing

Swathwise plans jobs anywhere, but four things in it are United States only: the terrain built into flight routes, directions, the maps it draws on, and the built-in state, county and Tribal land boundaries.

Once you have saved the maps for a site, it works without a connection. The privacy notice says exactly what it fetches when it has one.

In your browser, on your computer or on your phone, it is the same planner and it keeps your work on your own machine. It tells us that it was opened and that a set of routes was exported - which platform, which version, which country - so we know whether anyone is using it. In a browser, Cloudflare also counts the visit, as it does on this website. The privacy notice says exactly what each of those holds, and that neither holds anything about who you are.
